What is an unconference?
The Big Ideas...One thing we consistently hear from educators is that they simply wish they had time to talk to their colleagues from across the district and share ideas. That's what an unconference is all about! During registration, you'll be given some sticky notes or note cards. Use as many as you like. Write down some ideas of topics you want to discuss with others from across the district. They can be anything! During the morning, conference organizers will use those topics to build the afternoon unconference schedule! We'll post the session topics here along with their associated collaborative notes. Pick a session, find its location, and join the conversation. If it's not what you were expecting, it's OK to politely leave and find another that meets your needs!
Here are the rules: 1. It's about conversations! Share ideas, resources, and inspirations with your colleagues. The easiest way to get things started is to ask - "What are you all doing with [insert topic here]?" 2. Law of Two Feet - An unconference has a different culture. Is a session not meeting your needs? It's OK to politely leave and find one that does! 3. No Presentations/No Presenters - There are no PowerPoints in an unconference. No sage-on-the-stage. We're all here to learn from each other! There are no experts only expertise! 4. Everyone Has A Voice - Speak up! Share your ideas and your struggles! This is a place to connect and to be inspired. |
